“Booked meeting” and “valid held appointment” are not the same thing. If you pay for appointments or measure teams on them, defining what counts is essential to avoid disputes and wasted time.
What makes an appointment valid
A valid held appointment is one where the right person actually shows up, at the agreed time, with genuine interest and a reasonable fit. A calendar invite that no one attends is not a held appointment.
Common criteria
- The prospect matches a basic fit or qualification bar.
- The meeting actually takes place (attended, not just booked).
- There is real, expressed interest, not just politeness.
Why the definition matters
Clear criteria prevent commission disputes and keep everyone honest about quality over vanity numbers. Define it up front and put it in writing.
